If there’s anyone who understands eyelashes, it’s Mitzi Hale. She owns BellaLuxe Lash Studios in Falls Church, Virginia, where she puts her prowess to use masterfully applying the most glamorous eyelash extensions imaginable. So when the blond bombshell,wife and mother of two invited us in to check out her studio, we jumped at the chance! 

Mitzi and her team stop at nothing to amplify puny eye fringe. With over 350 returning clients, she has a wide variety of personalities visiting her daily. Her clientele runs the gamut from high level politicians to a DC’s celebrity drag queen named “Precious“. Extreme opposites are often lying next to each other on the luxurious individual spa beds in her studio. The entertaining chat is an added bonus making the 2 1/2 hour application process go by in a flash. 

  

Eyelash extensions started in Asia and made their way west. Unlike traditional false eyelashes that only last one day and are applied on a strip, synthetic eyelash extensions are glued to individual eyelash hairs one by one with the specially designed tweezers. Hale tells us she’s had here’s custom made by a leading medical instrument company. The lashes she uses are also custom made in the US. Yes, Hale is a perfectionist which is very apparent the minute you walk in to her posh, pink location. 

Constantly surrounded by celebrity culture and celebrity-centric media, so many want to look like they too are walking down a red carpet. Eyelash extensions are a way for the average person to look really glamorous really fast. Hale tells us that the boyfriends and husbands of her customers are some of her her biggest fans, often paying for their partners monthly relash sessions because they love the way they look! 

BellaLuxe Lash extensions can be worn in conjunction with LATISSE® and other lash serums, enhancing the overall look. The process takes two and half hours and they last the growth cycle of natural lashes. BellaLuxe is the absolute greatest eyelash extension studio EVER!!!  I began getting eyelash extensions for my wedding in fall of 2009 and kept coming back for more.  The eyelash extensions are placed individually and look AMAZING!  I get endless complements about my eyelashes, not just from my friends, but from complete strangers as well.  Not only are the eyelashes amazing, but the BellaLuxe experience is such a wonderful one.  Mitzi, Lauren and all the lash stylists are such positive, cheerful, gorgeous, fantastic women and I always leave the salon feeling beautiful and so very happy!  If you want to have fabulous lashes and to feel SO GOOD about yourself, make an appointment at BellaLuxe!

Bellaluxe is FABULOUS!! Mitzi the owner is wonderful and very professional. Not only is she an expert lash artist she is dedicated to her craft. She has developed products specifically for lash extensions because this industry is so fresh.  She is single handedly pioneering the lash industry in the DC area ( and probably beyond).

Bellaluxe has extensively trained staff who care as much about your lashes and beauty health as you do.. I say “beauty health” because there are so many horrible lash boutiques out there that simply do not know what they are doing and it can be dangerous for your eye health. At Bellaluxe you’re treated like family.  They wouldn’t ut anything on your face they wouldn’t recommend to their Grandma! :)

You can choose from 18 lash lengths, 3  lash thicknesses and even hipster colored lashes to truly customize your look. It’s great for the young girl looking for a little more sass in her look or the older woman who has thinning lashes and want that youthful lash again..

I just had to get it. These type of appointments for your first full-set of lashes generally range in the $275-$300+ area depending on how you want your lashes done (full set, longer, thicker, etc). Some places actually charge you by the lashes – the cheapest I’ve seen has been $2 a lash. This is definitely not an inexpensive hobby.

I got lost trying to find the place but I still found it! Upon entering 10 minutes late for my appointment, I was greeted so very warmly by all the ladies. They are the bubbliest people I’ve ever met and seriously, how can you not love that sort of introduction?

Anyway, they got me signed in, set up a file for me, and got to work. Dasha asked me what length I was looking for and she spoke with Mitzi as to how thick they would make it. Dasha suggested 0.20 thickness and Mitzi suggested a 0.15 and 0.20 mixture to keep my natural lashes from being weighed down by them. Dasha also asked me if I wanted them longer on the end or in the middle since that’s how natural lashes grow. The process takes a good 2-3 hrs.

I cannot sing enough praises about Dasha’s work. She really is an artist. My eyelashes look super long and you can’t tell that they’re extensions. At least I can’t!

I love them.

Would I go back again?

- HELL YES. I am definitely sticking with Dasha. I loved her work, I loved how meticulous she was, she and the other ladies discussed to make sure that my lashes turned out the way I wanted at the most optimal setting, and she kept making sure that she wasn’t delaying me from anything. You WANT a perfectionist to be doing this procedure for you. A perfectionist with steady hands. That’s what Dasha is. She kept on telling me how great things were going to look once we were finished which only fueled my excitement. Trust me, I was like a little kid in a toy store after mommy and daddy said I could have all the toys in the world. THAT’S how excited I was. I never felt like just another customer either – she was so warm and welcoming (same with all the other girls) that I couldn’t help but drag her into a hug at the end.

- All in all, I feel beautiful and confident and hell if I wasn’t vain enough before, I most definitely am now. I am so jealous of those of you who have naturally long, beautiful lashes. I do not but this is a great substitute for me. :)

The ladies at BellaLuxe do an amazing job! The lashes last so long and look fantastic! I cannot even count all the compliments that I have received. I have not used mascara in months. I wake up every morning and still amazed how great the lashes look. Also, their new location is so cute, easy to get to, and lots of parking!

FANTASTIC!!!! Incredibly talented, clean and excellent result oriented professionals…..I can’t say enough wonderful things about BellaLuxe!! Don’t even hesitate for a second, if you are looking to get eyelash extensions….this place is a MUST (trust me and I don’t provide reviews unless I’m just blown away)!! I’ve had eyelash extensions in the past that ruined the health and growth of my natural lashes with disappointing results (let alone the service) to save a few bucks but boyyyyy…..did my eyelashes pay for it…..but I’m NOW a true believer you get what you pay for!! Upon researching (desperate to get long, thick lashes again….for me, extensions just makes my eyes POP and overall I look better even w/out make-up), I came across BellaLuxe’s impressive website and positive reviews….so I tried them out and SOO HAPPY I did!!!  This place is incredible….they even have products to apply to your lashes to keep them nice and healthy before and after the service….so genius….no other salon offers this much expertise and quality work!! I go to Mitzi and Lauren but all the gals are highly qualified and result driven….PROMISE!!  I am going on my 2nd re-lash touch-ups with BellaLuxe and still extremely ecstatic every time!! Even shortly after my first full-set session with Mitzi…..I was being stopped by ladies inquiring about my eyelashes (literally 2-3 hrs after my very 1st appt)!!! OMG….I was giggling inside and sooo happy that strangers were complimenting how beautiful my lashes were….my boyfriend was like “great…another compliment…here we go again?!?” HAHA…I Love it!!!!!
